Introduction

The purpose of this project was to learn the methods of User Inspired Design. Every year, a different theme is chosen; in 2013 it was “death and dying”. The scope of the theme is purposely left broad, so that each team can have the freedom of interpretation. Our team chose to focus on the Taboos that we exist around Death. From the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language:

“A taboo is a ban or an inhibition resulting from social custom or emotional aversion.”

In our case, we considered a taboo a topic that is not easy to talk about. We brainstormed what the main taboos might be in correlation to death and dying.
